FAQs - GETTING READY TO RIDE
HOW DO I REGISTER AND FORM OR JOIN A TEAM?
Call your friends, family, co-workers, and comrades to form a Bike, Walk and Roll team! Many teams may choose to show their pride by decorating their bikes and sporting festive outfits!
TO JOIN AN EXISTING TEAM...
-
Search for your team when registering online and join it.
-
Already registered? You can still join a team. Just log in and click on "Join a team".
-
Please note, unless you registered together originally, you should still direct sponsors to your personal fundraising page. Your total will count towards the team. You still need to meet your individual fundraising goals to receive some great prizes.
TO START A NEW TEAM...
-
Register yourself online (you will be team captain) and create a team name. Once you are registered, you can register additional participants who will automatically be added to your team during the registration process. Make sure to give sponsors the url for the team fundraising page and to edit your team goal. Sponsors will be able to search for your team name, and donate. If they search for your name and donate to you personally, don't worry- this will still show up on your team fundraising thermometer.
-
If you have not started fundraising and want to create a team with others who have not started fundraising, you can all register yourselves and join the team and start fundraising together collectively.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF PARTICIPATING IN BIKE, WALK, AND ROLL
Each registered participant receives the following on the day of the Bike, Walk and Roll:

A ride fully marked and supported with great rest stops.
-
The opportunity to meet some great people and create new friendships along the bike route.
Our top fundraising riders get prizes! Check out our list of prizes, which will continue to be updated up until the event!

CAN I DO THIS RIDE?
Some people wonder, "Will I be able to do the ride?" The answer is usually yes, but you will need to train. Below are suggestions that can be helpful in determining which ride will be within your reach. Your supporters might even sponsor you with more money if they see that you're pushing yourself!
The 25 Mile Ride
-
If riders maintain an average speed of at least 10 mph for the whole ride, and stop for no longer than 1/2 hour at the rest stop, this would put you at the finish line in 3 hours
The 50 Mile Ride
-
If riders maintain an average speed of at least 10 mph for the whole ride, and stop for no longer than 1 hour total among the rest stops. This would put you at the finish line in about 6 hours
-
Riders should have completed at least one ride of 30 miles or more within the last month.
The 100 Mile Ride
-
If riders maintain an average speed of at least 15 mph for the whole ride, and stop for no longer than 1.5 hour total among all the rest stops, this would put you at the finish line in about 7.5-8 hours
-
Riders should have completed at least two rides of 75 miles or more within the last 2 month.
WHAT SHOULD I DO ABOUT MY BIKE?
Making sure that your bike is ready for the ride is important to having an enjoyable, worry-free day. Though we will have bike mechanics on-hand to do a last-minute safety check there is no substitute for preventative maintenance! Please note that the mechanics will not be able to handle any repairs the day of the ride.
To help make sure that all of our riders are safe, we will ask any riders who show up with unsafe bicycles on the day of to refrain from riding.
If you haven't had a tune up or had your bike looked over by a professional mechanic within the last year, we highly recommend taking it to your local bike shop before the ride.
HOW DO I CREATE MY OWN FUNDRAISING PAGE?
If you haven't already done so, create your personal fundraising page so that people can sponsor your ride online!
Remember if you are fundraising as a team, the person who registered the team should make the team page, which you will all use.
If you have already registered, you should have received a link in an email to get started on making your fundraising page. You can also just log in and get started right away.
-
Write some text on your page that is about your personal connection to the Bike, Walk and Roll mission, so that people will feel connected to your ride.
